About Pollination Africa 2026
Harnessing Pollination for Food Security, Biodiversity, and Livelihoods
Pollination Africa Summit 2026 is a focused, continent-wide scientific, policy and innovation summit dedicated to advancing pollination as a foundation for food security, biodiversity, livelihoods, and green enterprise development in Africa.
Hosted in AICC, Arusha, Tanzania, the Summit brings together scientists, policymakers, innovators, development partners, conservation actors, and practitioners to examine the state of pollinators in Africa, explore emerging scientific and technological solutions, and strengthen pathways from evidence to policy, investment, and action.
Our Mission
Why Pollinators Matter
Pollinators are the unsung heroes of African agriculture. From tiny native bees to brilliant sunbirds, these diverse species play a vital role in increasing crop yields, sustaining ecosystems, and supporting rural livelihoods.
Pollination Africa 2026 is designed as a knowledge-driven, action-oriented platform, advancing scientific understanding, innovation, and cooperative responses to pollinator decline and its implications for agriculture, ecosystems, and livelihoods across Africa.
From the honeybees that pollinate our coffee crops to the butterflies dancing through our flower gardens, from the sunbirds visiting our orchards to the beetles working in the shadows—each pollinator species contributes uniquely to our agricultural success and ecological health.
By bringing together stakeholders from across Africa and beyond, we're building a movement to protect and celebrate these essential species, ensuring food security and sustainable livelihoods for generations to come.
Our Core Objectives
The Summit is designed to drive real impact across four key pillars:
- Foster Collaboration. Build regional partnerships and facilitate knowledge exchange among farmers, researchers, conservationists, and policymakers across Africa and beyond.
- Showcase Innovation. Highlight cutting-edge technologies, sustainable practices, and market access solutions that support diverse pollinator species and the farmers who depend on them.
- Drive Policy Impact. Strengthen science-policy dialogue and influence policies to enhance food security, support pollinator health, and build resilient agribusinesses across Africa.
